Because its not always about the BLING! - DJs, MCs, Graffiti artists, and members of Afrika Bambaataa’s ‘Zulu Nation.”

The good folks at ArcTheFinger Records decided it would be a good idea to invite some of top up-and-coming artists in the U.S. this weekend for a little arts, crafts, and indie Hip-hop.

Thursday -03.30.06
A3C Pre-party - 5PM - 8PM
Cheap beers, free food & a meet-and-greet with the Perceptionists, Urban Medium, Asamov, Collective Efforts, Michi, Dosa Kim, and other featured A3C artists.

later in the eve (8PM - 3AM) performances by :: ATF’s newest act - Intellekt and Dirty Digits and gods of indie Hip-hop - the Perceptionists.

Friday - 03.31.06
Women of Hip-hop - 5PM - 8PM
Martha Cooper - photojournalist of all things Hip-hop since her first snapshots in Brooklyn in the late 70’s. Cooper will have her work on display as well as be part of a panel which includes several female DJs, MCs, and breakdancers - including one of Atlanta’s own dance team - the Burn Unit Crew - some of the dancers are featured in Cooper’s most recent book - We B’ Girlz

(8PM - 3AM) Afterwards the perfomances go on with some of my favorite acts - Collective Efforts (who are about to release their 3rd CD - ‘Medicine’) and Minamina Goodsong - they read Dr. Seuss on stage, yes, thats right - Dr. Seuss, not to mention they’re damn good MCs.

Saturday -04.01.06
Skill 4 Sole Dance Battles - 12PM - 7PM
I remember being a kid thinking I could one day spin on my head like 80s breakdancers - boy was i wrong. I guess I’m going to have to live vicariously through some of the best b-boys and b-girls in the country. The winners get cash and other prizes, the losers - they have to give up their sneakers.

7PM - 3AM - Saturday is going to be a looooong day - the performances set for the night are my favorites - Glue - whom I saw perform at the Drunken Unicorn not too long ago and blew my indie hip-hop lovin’ mind, Psyche Origami - their latest release was recently #1 on the CMJ charts, DJ Lord - he Djs for Public Enemy!

Good seeing you at the concert.

Great blog! I’m going to check out a lot of the music that you put on here. You can check out some of the music that we’re listening to, as well, over at my blog.
