For those of you who haven’t heard my rants on this subject before, there are a few things you need to know first. One – I don’t own a car; and two – I ride my little blue ’82 Schwinn Varsity (single speed) daily to get around. Riding in Atlanta is a lot of fun but definitely not the safest idea. No, I don’t wear a helmet. Yes, I realize this is brilliant of me.
Very long story, short version/message to idiot drivers:
Thanks to the moron that ran me off Dekalb Avenue yesterday evening while I was riding to work. The sidewalk/road did not cushion my fall. It hurt and there was blood. I hope it was worth not getting your precious Expedition scratched by the even stupider car that was trying to merge into you. It didn’t exactly make my derby damaged rotator cuff feel any better either.
I am by no means anti-car. I love driving when I have the opportunity. I just don’t enjoy biting it on the side of the road because inconsiderate people can’t factor cyclists into their perspective. It is illegal for us to be on the sidewalk which means we share the road with cars. Please share it with us.
Going to try to find someone to give my bike a lift to Sopo Tuesday night so I can try to get it fixed! If anyone has a sling I can borrow for my rotator cuff, please let me know.
