I hadn’t planned on heading out to a show last night but a last minute free ticket and promises of Makers tore me to The Earl to see Dungen. (I sound really distressed about this don’t I?)
It was my first time seeing them live and I rocked out the whole time. Their energy on stage reminded me of the Division of Laura Lee shows back at Echo four years ago (except there were actually people there last night). The singer was manic and switched back and forth between his guitar, keys and clarinet. There was just hair flying and arms of the crowd in the air the whole night. It was pure raunchy rock.
I poked fun at a gentlemen standing near the wall during the show who was clad in red cords and a black t-shirt, pointing out if he angled his torso just right, he would blend in with the pattern on the wall he was leaning on. This gentlemen turns out to be Dungen’s tour manager and long story short, we took Dungen and Nethers to Trackside because it was the last night of their tour and they wanted to go out. (Are Trackside and Pink Pony the only bars in Atlanta that are open past midnight on Sundays?) I kicked their asses in air hockey before the bartender kicked us off of it (apparently they don’t like you to kick the table) and drank them under the table. It was a damn bizarre evening.

Playing air hockey with Swedes? Atlanta is truly an international city.

Do you know any good bars that have foosball tables? Citysearch says Mike & Angelo’s. Anywhere NOT in Buckhead?
