This week isn’t letting me sleep at all. I actually just need to work on “self-discipline”. Pssh.
Last night I hit up The Walkmen, Bobby Bare Jr, The Close show up at The Loft. The show was bumped back an hour so I left to grab dinner and missed The Close and half of Bobby Bare Jr due to the slowest waitress I’ve ever seen in an empty restaurant. I returned for the last half of the Bobby Bare Jr set and got his upcoming album “The Longest Meow” for free in exchange for selling my soul (or old mailing address) to Camel. It was BY FAR the smokiest show I had been to in ages. I completely understand why most shows at The Loft are no smoking now. Even the smokers were going outside for a breather with their ciggies.
The Walkmen – My Old Man (Who did I lend my Walkmen cds to?? I can’t find any of them!)
Bobby Bare Jr’s Young Criminals Starvation League – The Heart Bionic
The Close – Diane Don’t Dive
The Close – Hey Fever
Tonight’s must-see show is surely All The Saints, The Judies and Bones at The EARL.
All The Saints – Hard Lung
All The Saints – Jesus Is From Birmingham
The Judies – Rainyday Roads
The Judies – Sim Sim Sa La Bim
Friday I’m hitting up “Brawl” at Dad’s Garage. My favorite improv theater in Atlanta. It’s been so long since I’ve been there – I’m really looking forward to it.
