Last night I caught Simon Dawes at the Variety Playhouse. They killed. Seriously, one of the better shows I’ve seen in a long time. Before last night I had only heard one of the bands songs and thought it was a cool catchy little tune, but seeing the band live was so much better. Simon Dawes are currently on tour with Band of Horses, who I didn’t see last night ( I had to bail, long weekend) and were also recently on tour with The Films, whom I’ve heard doing well for themselves. My only complaint is that their best song, at least live, “Blood and Guts”, isnt on the CD.

This week is gonna be insane, I wil be at every Paste Rock ‘n’ Reel show – which goes til the 24. Im psyched about tonights show with Modern Skirts and Morning State at the Earl, Wednesday is Sufjan Stevens at the Fox, Thrusday it’s Peelander-Z at the Earl, Friday its Catfish Haven at the Earl, and Sunday Beirut at the Variety Playhouse. BUSY BUSY BUSY. I also have to fit in an art gallery opening – Friday at the The Lowe Gallery, work everyday – and remember to feed Benzo the beta fish.
