So a good friend of mine, who happens to think blogging is lame, emails me this morning about getting advanced tix to a midnight viewing of the third installment of the Spider-Man franchise on May 3. Even though Batman is my favorite superhero, I of course said yes.
But it got me thinking; Spider-Man’s soundtracks usually suck, a lot. So what does Spidey have up his web sleeve this time around?
Surprise, surprise, Peter Parker has gone all indie! The new The Walkmen track “Red River” is awesome. Anybody got an advance copy they want to send my way - you know where to find me…for now all I’ve got is a link to Spiderman’s myspy.
Even Spider-Man wants to be in your top friends list myspace.com/spiderman

maybe they hired a better music supervisor

Well… the catch is none of those bands are really indie. They’re all on majors or major owned “indies.” Rogue Wave was about the farthest off the path they went.

Actually Rogue Wave is on Sub Pop, distributed by ADA - which is owned by a major.
Black Mountain is distributed by Secretly Canadian (indie distro).
