One of my absolute favorite music social networking sites, Last.fm (since the days of just Audioscrobbler!), has signed a deal with Sony BMG to allow users to stream any of the Sony BMG catalog through the site. The deal secures Last.fm as the largest internet radio service in the world.

If you aren’t currently a user, I highly recommend checking it out. It’s simple - you just download a plugin to your computer that tracks the music you listen to (in the audio player of your choice) and tracks it on a profile page. There’s a bunch else it does as well such as recommending artists and tracks based off what you’re listening to; you can see what your friends are listening to; there are communities based on regions, music genres, interests, etc.

The feature I use the most is the Personal Radio - a streaming radio station filled with music that you listen to mixed with other music you might be interested in based off what you’ve listened to.

Forget Pandora! I have had much better luck discovering new (and old) music through Last.fm. They have my seal of approval.

Last.fm is definitely awesome. I’ve found a lot of great bands from recommendations and blogs there. I just sent an add request (User: HemlockEcho).
