The Alamo Drafthouse Cinema from Austin, TX is heading East bound and down to the Starlight Drive-In on Tuesday, August 14th for a Burt-A-Thon! As part of their Rolling Road Show Tour, they’re in Atlanta to celebrate the awesomeness that is Burt Reynolds!
That night, they will be showing three classic Burt flicks - Smokey and the Bandit, Sharky’s Machine and White Lightning.
Movies start at 8:45PM (or whenever the sun goes down) and the cost of admission is $8.50 per person, however, drivers of 1981 or older Trans Ams and Firebirds get in for just $6 a carload! There will also be special VIP tickets available that includes preferred parking, a special event poster (see image above), hospitality in the DeWar’s Scotch VIP tent and a free moustache! VIP tickets are $30, Trans Ams or not.
The following morning, 30 lucky teams (sorry, all spots have been filled up already) will kick off a cross country scavenger hunt, with competitors driving from the Starlight in Atlanta to Texarkana, just like in Smokey and the Bandit, where the Alamo will have a semi-truck full of Coors and another drive-in screening of the film at nightfall. Grand prize for the scavenger hunt is an actual Pontiac Firebird. Don’t you wish you heard about this earlier?
