I have obsessively been listen to Midlake lately… by lately, I mean every day for the past three months. In good fortune, they are playing tonight at The Earl!

You may remember me mentioning their most recent album “The Trials of Van Occupanther” in my belated Best of 2006 in January. Since then I’ve acquired their earlier, “Bamnan and Slivercork” as well as handful of additional tracks and my love goes on. Their earlier material is a bit less of the driven guitar sound but still holds their full keys rock sound with sprinkled eclectic sounds.
Here’s a smidge of some Midlake for ya:
Midlake - Roscoe (from The Trials of Van Occupanther)
Midlake - Balloon Maker (from Bamnan And Slivercork)
Midlake - Blister Free
Midlake - Roller Skate (Farewell, June)

Came THIS close to going to the show, but didn’t make it. Hope it was good!

It was a good show. They of course played primarily stuff off the new album. They did play a new song but I missed it when I ran down the street to get cash to buy a t-shirt. LOL. Jeff Clark liked it. (Have you seen the feature on them in August’s Stomp and Stammer?)
Have you seen them before? If so, they got rid of the video stuff they used to play on the back of the stage which kind of saddened me. Not only was it really awesome video, but it really pulled you even further into the songs in the live setting.
