Tomorrow marks the official end of 99X (WNNX - Atlanta) as you know it. It will be the official launch of 99x as a “virtual radio station”. According to Elliott from Sunday School, that pretty much means they’ll have cameras in the studio with the dj’s streaming live via 99x.com, so don’t think they’re trying to pull a WOXY (whom DaFC loves).

According to RadioInsight, Cumulus has registered Rock1005.com, Rock100Atlanta.com, Rock100Atl.com, and 1005Rock.com along with .net variations of all. All of those domains are pointing to the site of sister “Warm 98” WRRM Cincinnati. This is a similar tactic to that done by sister WWFT Indianapolis a few weeks ago prior to its change to AC (Adult Contemporary).

Will tomorrow also be the launch of Rock 100.5?
Will the Regular Guys be back on the air?

Rodney Ho from the AJC has some thoughts on this as well, including some bits of info on the change, “The switchover is supposedly going to happen at about 5:30 a.m. but that’s certainly not written in stone.”

Despite what Wikipedia says on the subject, The Bert Show began airing on 99.7FM this morning (which was not a pleasant surprise on my alarm clock). At least he has Jen Hobby.

More relevant news:
- Former 99x dj, Jimmy Barron, says goodbye to the station.
- Radio-Info.com assures us that Steve and Vicki will not be on the air (Can I get a hallelujah?)

I guess this was bound to happen eventually. I knew it was coming but it’s still kind of a sad day for old-school radio. The times are changing . . .

This is why I’m hooked to last.fm! Now if only they would allow you to somehow transport your radio stations to your car, I would happily abandon iPod and all!
