Sure. Same story here in Canada. My new 3G fell from a 3-foot-high counter to the floor and the screen shattered. Apple graciously replaced the iPhone for a mere $368 (Canadian dollars).

This would indicate that they realize they do have a defect in the product, and are probably a target for class action. Who knows a lawyer ready to handle this?

The same thing happened to me last night. In a bar with my iphone in back pocket, leant over to pass barman cash for drinks and heard pop sound...took out my phone and the screen has shattered (expensive round of drinks). Just spoke to apple but will not replace it although can arrange replacement screen for £200.
