Shattered iPhone Screen

My co-worker, Chris Humber, and I were sitting down in the office working this lovely afternoon in Atlanta. Out of nowhere, we both hear a pop. His iPhone screen had shattered out of nowhere. Like a thin piece of ice when you step on it. Has anyone heard of this??

    my friend had put her iphone in her back pocket on her way to get a cover, when she pulled it out to put on the cover she noticed the screen had cracked like a baseball had been thrown at a window. she says it costs around 200 bucks to get it fixed. I wouldn’t say it’s a manufacturer defect or anything i mean it is mineral glass.

    I am happy to report apple replaced my phone free of charge!!! I was of course very nervous.. first i had my heart broken last night (giants suck), and then my phone today, but Apple came through… nice Job Steve…

    @Luis – Man that sucks!! That’s the sort of thing that happens with most of the broken iPhone screens from what I’ve seen online. You break, you buy. ;) That was the oddest part about Chris’ phone. It was just sitting there flat on the desk by itself!

    @Buddy – *envy* I’m waiting for Gen 2.

    @Chris H – You’re as cheesy as this blog is. Ha. Glad they got you taken care of! And so fast!

    The same thing happened to me last night. In a bar with my iphone in back pocket, leant over to pass barman cash for drinks and heard pop sound…took out my phone and the screen has shattered (expensive round of drinks). Just spoke to apple but will not replace it although can arrange replacement screen for £200.

    Sure. Same story here in Canada. My new 3G fell from a 3-foot-high counter to the floor and the screen shattered. Apple graciously replaced the iPhone for a mere $368 (Canadian dollars).

    This would indicate that they realize they do have a defect in the product, and are probably a target for class action. Who knows a lawyer ready to handle this?

    Same happened to me this morning. I looked at the phone and everything was fine. 10 minutes later I wanted to make a call and I saw the whole screen shattered…..What do I do

    My friend was able to go to the Apple store and explain what happened — they replaced it at no cost.

    I recently had the same thing happen to me. I was so upset when I heard apple would be charging $199+ for the repair. I was really relieved when I found http://www.iphone3gscreenrepair.com. Their staff was so friendly and their repairs were very high quality. The best part was it was only $69.99
