Well this is a little odd… The Atlanta Dogwood Festival will be held at Lenox Square Mall this year instead of it’s traditional location at Piedmont Park, April 4th, 5th and 6th.

2008 Atlanta Dogwood Festival at Lenox Mall

72nd ATLANTA DOGWOOD FESTIVAL FINDS A HOME
Organizers See Positive Aspects in Highly Accessible Shopping Area

Atlanta, Georgia (February 1, 2008) – After the city’s announcement earlier this month that the 72nd Atlanta Dogwood Festival could not take place in Piedmont Park, the Atlanta Dogwood Festival was pleased to announce today that the location for 2008 would be the forecourt of Lenox Square. Conveniently located in Buckhead, adjacent to MARTA and incorporating plenty of space for the hundreds of thousands of visitors the festival brings to the city, the new location allows festival organizers to keep the event in Atlanta.

They haven’t announced the music schedule yet but application submission ended at the end of January, so we expect they will be announcing soon!

that seems just plain wrong to me. was this the same fest that decided having your dog at the park was a bad idea?

@Leila It does sound a bit sacrilegious doesn’t it? I wonder how the neighborhoods surrounding Piedmont Park feel about it.
I am curious to see how it affects the attendance both size-wise and demographically.
I also wonder if due to this rougher environment the festival will be, could it potentially grow into something that could fill the shoes of (RIP) Music Midtown? Probably so if they get Rock 100.5 sponsoring it. Though as far as I know Laura will definitely focus booking on local acts per usual.

    WEIRD.

And the drought rears it’s ugly head yet again.

At least they didn’t try to have it at Atlantic Station what with the mess of things in the area now that Techwood is closed for a freakin’ year.

yea! dorks eating, looking at and selling crap won’t clog up the park all weekend long while i’m trying to ride my bike. Good riddance. Now if we can only get rid of all the other the crappy festivals (which are about 9/10 of the festivals) that take place every weekend, ruin the grass and make the entire park smell like raw sewage!
