With the timeless classics “December 1963 (Oh What a Night)â€Â, “Walk Like a Manâ€Â, “Sherryâ€Â, “Big Girls Don’t Cryâ€Â, and “Ragdoll†Valli’s voice is synonymous with the 1950’s, 60’ and 70’s. Jazz guitarist and vocalist and multi-Grammy award winner George Benson is popular largely in part due to his remarkable talent and versatility, but he is undeniably most celebrated for his ability to astonish his audience with his constantly changing musical focus. Benson’s is a career that started out by performing in nightclubs as a vocalist at the age of eight, and continued as he became a renowned jazz guitarist playing with Miles Davis, Frank Sinatra, and Tony Bennett. In 1976, after years of recording only instrumental guitar albums in his younger years, Benson’s multi-platinum album Breezin’ became a success as its sole vocal track, a cover of Leon Russell’s “This Masquerade†flew to the Top Ten in the charts. A string of R&B-flavored vocal pop albums followed, until in the late 80’s Benson made the switch back to guitar with his release,

Kenneth Gorelick (Kenny G) began his career as a musician with Barry White at the age of 20. In 1982, Kenny G signed with Arista Records. He has released many solo albums and collaborated with various artists including Whitney Houston, Toni Braxton, Natalie Cole, Steve Miller and Aretha Franklin. His fifth studio album, Breathless, became the number one best selling instrumental album ever, with over 15 million copies sold, of which 12 million were in the U.S. He broke another record when his first holiday album, Miracles, sold over 13 million copies, making it the most successful Christmas album to date. In 1997, Kenny G earned a place in the Guinness Book of World Records for playing the longest note ever recorded on a saxophone. Kenny G held an E-flat for over forty five minutes. Kenny G has sold over 50 million albums in the U.S.

Soul Asylum
Minneapolis rockers Soul Asylum are back with a brand new album (the band’s first since 1998) called The Silver Lining. Soul Asylum climbed the ranks of rock and roll for nearly a decade before cracking commercial success. In the early 90’s, the public embraced Soul Asylum’ unique blend of underground alternative rock and snatched up copies of their album Grave Dancers Union in the process. A few of Soul Asylum’s biggest hits include “Somebody to Shove,†“Misery,†“Runaway Train,†“Black Gold,†and “Just Like Anyone.†Lead singer, Dave Pirner released a solo album entitled Faces and Names in 2002.
Gin Blossoms
The Gin Blossoms are also back on the scene with a long awaited new album Major Lodge Victory. The pride of Tempe, Arizona, Gin Blossoms have reunited and are bringing their music back to the masses. Gin Blossoms were formed in 1987, but didn’t gain mainstream notoriety until the release of their platinum album New Miserable Experience in 1992. Radio picked up on catchy tunes like “Hey Jealousy,†“Found About You,†and “Till I hear It From You†and soon the Gin Blossoms were riding a wave of success. In 1996, the album Congratulations I’m Sorry continued their success with songs like “Follow You Down†and “Day Job.â€Â

Morris Day & The Time served as the first per project for the legendary artist, again, known as Prince. The Time has always been a fascinating and entertaining group of funk pioneers. Loaded with talent, The Time’s leader Morris Day is a true showman. The Time appeared as the rival band in the Prince movie “Purple Rain†in the mid-80’s and again in the follow-up “Grafitti Bridge.†In the 80’s, The Time also featured two of R&B’s most famous producers in Terry Lewis and Jimmy Jam, known for their work with Janet Jackson. Boyz II Men – hailed by the RIAA as the most commercially successful R&B group of all time – return to center stage with a stunning new album, Motown: A Journey Through Hitsville USA. The Decca label debut is the first major-label release in five years for Boyz II Men, who have sold an estimated 60 million recordings in a spectacular career that will enter its seventeenth year in 2008. Boyz II Men formed in 1988 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania as a quintet. When Marc Nelson left to pursue a solo career, the group carried as a quartet with Nathan Morris, Michael McCary, Shawn Stockman, and Wanyá Morris (no relation to Nathan). All four members proved to be distinctive lead singers in addition to their smooth trademark harmonies. The group’s clean-cut retro nouveau image, synchronized dance routines, and polished stage act were key to their rapid rise to stardom. Scott is a truly unique and insightful visionary who is in her prime. Scott’s recent singles from her latest album “My Love†and “Wanna Be Loved†both show her growth as a songwriter and visionary. The Philadelphia native has collaborated with the likes of The Roots, Chris Botti, the Isley Brothers and Darius Rucker. Most recently she has been a contributor to Oprah Winfrey’s O! After the release of their debut album Cracked Rear View in 1994, Hootie and the Blowfish became a household name and the charts were theirs. Hootie and the Blowfish released mega-hits “Let Her Cry,†“Hold My Hand,†“Only Wanna Be With You,†and “Time,†toured the world, and watched their obscurity turn into a phenomenon. In 1996 Hootie and the Blowfish released their second multi-platinum album Fairweather Johnson, which featured the hits “Tuckers Town†and “Old Man & Me.†Though Hootie and the Blowfish haven’t matched the 13 million-seller success of Cracked Rear View, they have continued to release quality music that still appeals to the masses. Gipsy Kings are a group from France. Their latest album is Pasajero. They are Cale musicians, best known for bringing Rumba Catalana, a pop-oriented version of traditional flamenco music to worldwide audiences. Their music has a particular Rumba Flamenca style, with pop influences; many songs of the Gipsy Kings fit social dances, such as Salsa and Rumba. Their music has been described as “Spanish flamenco and Romani rhapsody meet salsa funk”.
