In case you’re not a total geek like myself, you may not know about this -

Cuil (pronounced COOL) is looking to take over your search engines. Yea, Google has a little competition and to make things worse, Cuil was created by former Google employees. My guess is before they left the corporate giant, they also took a couple pads of post-it notes and box or 2 or paper clips.

I tried to “Cuil” myself (see, I’m already using new lingo) and found nothing about me. Then again I didn’t find anything on Google. So…um…Cuil folks, can you fix that? Umthankyouverymuch.

It’s not going to be able to take over the internet if it can’t even keep it’s servers up long enough to handle the traffic it’s receiving.

So far - I’m not impressed.

I searched for a few things, then clicked on the results. 8 out of 10 pages it returned didn’t actually have the word(s) i had searched for anywhere on the page. I don’t really see how that’s going to get the people at Google all up in an panic.

Well I tried Cuil out and it didn’t work out for me either. They do really have a long way to go. Seems like they just started this search engine to get bought out by a major engine because behind the scenes they are doing something right we just don’t know what yet..

simple answer to the question. no.

I have to generally agree with the above. I’m all for new startups, especially if they have a new approach. I’ll keep trying it out, but at the moment it just doesn’t rival Google.

    finally someone agrees!
