So after years of doom and gloom and seeing so very many cool record stores close left and right, I’m pleased to report that there are a couple of stores in Atlanta that are doing quite well. In fact, they’re moving to bigger and better locations to prove it!
First off is Ella Guru, which was a staple in Toco Hills, but now has moved over to Inman Park. You can find them on Elizabeth Street, right next to ATL Scooters. So if you’re eating at Fritti or Sotto Sotto or having a drink at The Grape or The Albert or even seeing a show over at Dad’s Garage, you should stop on by beforehand and say hello to Don or Josh and check out their new digs.ÂÂ
Here’s the new address and phone number so you can Google Map it:
280 Elizabeth Street, Suite B101
Atlanta, GA 30307
#404-223-0095
And later this fall, Criminal Records will be expanding further into Little 5 Points with a HUGE new store located where the former Soul Kiss resided (where the R. Land art show was held not too long ago). Criminal will still be keeping their original store between Junkman’s Daughter and Aurora Coffee, and the plan will be to house their comics and collectibles there. And all the CDs, Vinyl, DVDs, magazines, etc will be moved over to the new spot with plenty of room to browse through bins. They’re also going to have a permanent stage built inside to host all the instore performances they’ve become known for. Expect the opening to take place sometime towards the end of October.
