WonderRoot Cleans Up Reynoldstown

Posted :: October 3, 2008 | 3:07 pm :: Tessa Horehled

WonderRoot, a non-profit organization established and based in Atlanta, partnered up with the Reynoldstown Civil Improvement League (RCIL), Reynoldstown Revitalization Corporation (RRC), Home Depot, CSX, Trees Atlanta and the Magnetic Theatre in conjunction with Hands On Atlanta Day 2008 to paint and plant the CSX Wylie Wall in the Reynoldstown Neighborhood on Saturday, October 4, 2008 at 12:00 noon on Wylie Road between Flat Shoals Avenue and Pearl Street.

During the day, mural artists from all over the country, spearheaded by local artist Jabari Graham, will paint and improve the aesthetics of the Wylie Street Wall. With the support of Trees Atlanta, community volunteers will also be planting fast growing and hardy vines along the wall.

According to Witt Wisebram, co-executive director of WonderRoot, “This is a very exciting project for WonderRoot and the Reynoldstown Community, because not only is it one of the largest mural projects in the history of the Southeast, but it also an example of how a community can implement creative processes to re-imagine the landscape of the community.”

WonderRoot is an Atlanta-based non-profit arts organization committed to united artists and community to inspire positive social change. The objectives are to provide production facilities to Atlanta-based artists; to facilitate arts-based community service programs in the Atlanta area; and to encourage artists to be proactive in engaging their communities through community service work.

WonderRoot invites all Atlanta artists and art lovers to participate in this exciting event and join the WonderRoot community.
