The Avett Brothers are canceling their Florida shows this week due to the pending birth of Scott Avett’s first child.

In a bulletin on MySpace:

To our most loyal and dedicated fans,
Due to the pending birth of my first child, we have regretfully chosen to cancel our upcoming shows in Tampa, FL at the Cuban Club on the 23rd and Live Oak, FL at Magnoliafest on the 24th. We have never had to cancel a show for personal reasons, but I just have to be around for my wife and child on the most important day of our lives. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused any of you. We have rescheduled the Tampa, FL performance for May 2, 2009. I also apologize for the late notice, but we waited until the last possible minute to make this decision. I’d like to extend a very sincere thanks to all of you for your well-wishes and kind words during this very important time in my family’s life. We are happy and healthy at home, just awaiting our daughter’s arrival. We will see you all very soon.
