Ticket Giveaway: Neil Halstead

Posted :: November 19, 2008 | 2:50 pm :: Tessa Horehled

Neil Halstead, formerly of Slowdive and Mojave 3, is playing at The Earl tomorrow night in support of his latest record “Oh! Mighty Engine“, released back in July of this year on Brushfire Records. If you are a fan of his earlier solo work or previous bands, you will find this album very satisfying. A very mellow and solid release.

In addition to his tour and new album, Neil Halstead also just recorded a MySpace Transmissions session which you can download for free in addition to streaming this video of the title track, “Oh Mighty Engine”:

Local opener Long Knives are playing one of their semi-annual shows and debuting two new songs, but if you haven’t seen them in a while it will be more like eight new songs. Definitely an opener worth showing up a little earlier for.

  • Guess it's me and good 'ole AC360 tonight. Again. <Sigh></Sigh>.
  • Farzad is the winner of the Neil Halstead tickets for tonight!

    (Winners are chosen at random by a stranger in whichever coffee shop I may be inhabiting at the time of drawing.)
  • I don't really like putting my full name in blog comment spaces. You know what they say... fools names, fools faces. But can I just make it Spacey Gracey and still be in the contest? Email address used to submit is perfectly valid. See above comment for why I should win tx.
  • I should win tx because I've been blogging all day long, breaking only for lunch at the Piccadilly Ansley Mall with this gorgeous, talented, brilliant, kind, loving guy-friend. He's gay. (Thus the Ansley Mall Piccadilly lunch venue choice.)

    As a straight, single woman, that was just a wee bit more frustration than I'd planned for in my otherwise great day as a struggling small business owner in Broke America.

    I'm old and have been a follower of Neil for along time. Still remember the Slowdive concerts and look forward to more melodies that he brings to life. And if you want I'll let you have one of the tickets I haven't tried to hang out with you for awhile. Worth a shot right? Â
