WonderRoot is hosting a Battle of the Bands! Tis the season: It’s a community service contest between unsigned local Atlanta musical acts.
How does it work?
1. Register on the signup page.
2. You and/or your band will work at local Atlanta non-profits of your choosing between December 1st, 2008 and January 31st, 2009, making sure to log your hours on the Community Service Record Sheet (available for download on the WonderRoot site).
On February 1st, 2009, WonderRoot will tally the number of hours the contestants have worked. The top five musical acts with the most hours will be selected to perform in a major finals showcase at Lenny’s Bar on February 28th, 2009.
The finals showcase is a free event. WonderRoot decided that it would be more beneficial to the community to request attendees bring (3) cans of food. For each fan that the band brings to the showcase, they will receive (1) additional community hour towards their total.
At the end of the showcase, the musical act with the most community service hours will be named the winner!
What does the winner receive?
The winning musical act will receive FREE studio time at WonderRoot’s Recording Studio, the only non-profit recording studio in Atlanta.
How much free studio time?
How about enough to create a fully mastered 5 song EP!
Oh yeah, and you’ll be recording with producer Graham Marsh. He’s worked with Gnarls Barkley and Leona Lewis.
If I haven’t said it enough, I love WonderRoot. Have at it guys!
