ACC & Windows III At MINT

Posted :: April 24, 2009 | 2:00 pm :: Lucas Jensen

Tonight, MINT Gallery and The Atlanta Creative Conscious (ACC like the football conference) kick off their Windows III exhibit with a special show and early bird auction. It’s called Windows III because it features over 20 local artists using old windows as their canvas. And because it is the third one.

Four bands will be performing at tonight’s event, none of whom I have ever heard, so here are my 120 second or so MySpace impressions:

Jack Carter: banjo-led hoedown in the bedroom
Victor Victroovius Bicycle: whimsical E6-y Fahey folk
Magic Apron: glowing pastoral harmonies
Dead Rabbit: raw bluesy stomp duo (Southern Black Keys?)

Okay, wow. Those were pretty great 2 minute listens! It’s rare to encounter four bands you’ve never heard and dig all of them on first impression. Tonight’s show starts at 8 PM with $5 donations strongly encouraged.

The art exhibit officially opens tomorrow night (Sat. April 25th) at MINT Gallery and runs from 8-11pm, free and open to the public. The bidding starts at either $25 or $50 for most pieces.

All events take place at MINT Gallery: 684 John Wesley Dobbs Ave, Unit B
