What better way to feed your inner philanthropist than supporting the 3rd Annual 500 Songs for Kids Benefit? For the last two years, Atlanta-based Songs for Kids Foundation has held a 10 day marathon of artists and songs, celebrating music and supporting the foundation and its work with children’s charities.

This year they will be counting down the 500 “most passionate songs”, with 500 different artists. The event kicks off April 30th at Smith’s Olde Bar and runs through May 9th. Doors open every night at 6:30pm, music starts at 6:45pm, — 50 songs each night.

Some of the artists this year include The Howlies, John McNicholas, Morningside, The Empties, Besides Daniel, Jessica Cayne Urick, The Swear, Paul Melancon, The Constellations, Mudcat, Playground Rivals, and about 490 others. You can check out the full list of songs and dates, but some of my personal favorites include:

[mp3] The Times They Are A-Changin’ – Bob Dylan
[mp3] Whole Lotta Love – Led Zeppelin
[mp3] It’s Not Unusual – Tom Jones
[mp3] Superstition – Stevie Wonder
[mp3] Personality Crisis – New York Dolls

The Songs for Kids Foundation brings music to hospitals and special needs camps to uplift and inspire those kids who need it the most. Since its beginning in 2007, Songs for Kids has expanded to serve 7 hospitals, 20 special needs camps across both coasts. Whether it be singing to a patient, their family, or hospital staff, or helping a child make music of their own, Songs For Kids is making a positive impact and with admission at only $10 per night, you don’t have to break the bank to make a positive impact too.
