Darn Neat

Sort It Out

Tonight while driving home from seeing the fireworks at Lenox, I checked my Twitter stream to see what was going down in Atlanta and heard that there was a lot of smoke coming from somewhere near City Hall East.

I continued through my stream and saw this photo by Matt Miller:

I decided to drive down to the venue to see if I could learn anything more about the incident. I couldn’t see or learn much unfortunately due to the barrier around the venue and the surplus of fire trucks and police cars on the scene. The fire was definitely out and the smoke was dissipating.

Swooping in to calm the Twitterati comes Atlanta city councilman, Kwanza Hall, who reached out to the Atlanta Fire Rescue and discovered that “It was a small brush fire behind the main Masq bldg. Fire is out.” Good news! There is no information yet as to the cause of this fire nor the extent of the damage. It’s hard to imagine that it wasn’t firework-related but there should be a full report available tomorrow.
