It’s a little disheartening that Atlanta appears unaware that we’ve had a soapbox derby every year for the past three years… Sigh. Corporate America.

Red Bull is taking over this year’s event (sorry Rebekha) hosting 50 teams this Saturday, August 29 at Piedmont Park in Midtown. The pits will open at 11AM and the first race kicks off at 1PM. The derby is free and open to the public.

Red Bull is also going to have a hectic impact on Midtown transportation this weekend.

Below is the breakdown on road closings in the Midtown area, in association with the event:

August 28th
Time of Closure: 9:30AM
Roads Closed: 10th Street from Argonne to Charles Allen.

Time of Closure: 7:30PM
Roads Closed: 10th Street from Piedmont to Monroe; Charles Allen from 9th Street to 10th Street

Resident Traffic Only: Argonne, Myrtle, Taft and Charles Allen between 8th and 9th.

August 29th
Time of Closure: ALL DAY
Roads Closed: 10th Street from Piedmont to Monroe; Charles Allen from 9th Street to 10th Street; Argonne between 9th Street and 10th Street

Resident Traffic Only: Argonne, Myrtle, Taft and Charles Allen between 8th and 9th.
