Phoenix was in Criminal Records today playing an instore performance in front of a packed room, which is saying something for the new Criminal. They started out the set to a few technical difficulties but were soon underway.
The band showcased a few newer songs and even threw in a cover of Air’s “Playground Love” from Virgin Suicides soundtrack. The set was recorded by someone, so I’m sure we’ll see that posted somewhere around the web relatively soon. Needless to say the free Savage Pizza didn’t last very long. The line to have things signed by the band was so long that an exasperated employee made an announcement that the band only had a limited amount of time and that people should be conscientious of the people still waiting behind them. This may have to do with all the press the band has been getting lately, from late night television to Cadillac commercials.
If today’s instore is an indicator, it’s safe to say that Atlanta has a crush on these frenchmen at the moment.

Phoenix totally ruled it, and I absolutely loved that they had to play Lisztomania a second time — I could have sat there and listened to them play it all afternoon.
