The tricycle racing with include teams of four people who will race relay style on their “highly tuned” racetrack. (Registered teams also receive a case of beer provided by PBR.)

Two wheels: Good. Three years of wrenching: Awesome! Sopo Bicycle Cooperative‘s bike shop is turning three this month, and everyone is invited to celebrate on Saturday night at WonderRoot Community Arts Center.

This all ages party features musical acts The Shondes, The Thieves, and Herman Put Down the Gun. WonderRoot is located at 982 Memorial Drive.

Sopo Bicycle Cooperative operates Atlanta’s 501(c)3 nonprofit community bicycle repair workshop. Sopo’s mission is to create equitable access to bicycling by providing affordable bicycle maintenance services and education. All donations to Sopo are tax deductible. The shop is located in the East Atlanta Village at 465-C Flat Shoals Avenue. Operating hours are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights from 7 pm until 10 pm and Saturday and Sunday afternoons from 2 pm until 6 pm.

“The tour really opened my eyes to the exciting potential of the BeltLine for the future of the City of Atlanta!”

The BeltLine Partnership is now accepting reservations for a new year of BeltLine tours. Join the nearly 2000 BeltLine neighbors, real estate professionals, business people, nonprofit groups, and people from across the region who toured the BeltLine in 2007. In three hours, you will learn about the history of the BeltLine concept and actions to date, and you will see how the BeltLine connects neighborhoods around Atlanta.

The weekly tours begin this Friday, January 25th and run through Saturday, March 15th. (No tours will be offered March 21st and 22nd, and the tour schedule for the balance of the year will be posted later.) Tours are conducted on Friday and Saturday mornings beginning at the Inman Park MARTA Station. Participants should arrive at the station no later than 9:15am. Tours depart at 9:30am and return by 12:30pm.

Reservations are required. Capacity for each tour is 30 participants and tour dates will fill quickly. Reserve your seat soon to ensure your preferred tour date.

In my humble opinion, the BeltLine is one of the most exciting progressive efforts this city has endeavored into in a long time. I’m definitely signing up for this. If you’re interested in learning more about the BeltLine, they have a resource library on their website for public reference as well.
