Somehow whenever elections come around, you’ve either moved, lost your Voter’s Registration Card or just forgot where you are suppose to head to vote.

Today are the Municipal elections so get out there and cast your vote.

President Obama Issues Major Disaster Declaration In Response To Atlanta Floods

In tweets from the Office of Congressman Hank Johnson this afternoon, it has been announced that Obama has approved Governor Sonny Perdue’s request and issued a Major Disaster Declaration for areas of Georgia in response to the flash floods throughout the Metro Atlanta area on Monday of this week.

The tweets:
“Pres Obama has just issued Major Disaster Declaration for some areas of GA affected by floods.”
“Thus far Cobb, Cherokee, Paulding and Douglas are included in President’s disaster declaration. Stay tuned for updates.”

Relief is on the way.

Take note! Here is a list of road closings from the AJC.

According to Nick Wiltgen, Senior meteorologist at The Weather Channel Radio Network, “there is a tornado on the ground along the Mississippi/Alabama border now.” This might be getting worse before it gets better.

Atlanta Flooding Kills Two Georgia Residents, Leaves Up To 12,000 Without Power

Georgia is experiencing flash floods due to heavy overnight rains. Great portions of the city of Atlanta and it’s surrounding areas are being crippled by the backup.

This is a shot I took this morning of Peachtree Creek, a block from my house on Defoors Ferry Rd, in Buckhead. The creek is usually about fifteen to twenty feet shallower than what you can see here. Luckily there is a USGS monitor positioned there!

Drive A Cautious Car

Rumors are going around on Twitter this morning that Atlanta Police are “expected to run concentrated patrols on I-285, I-85, I-75 & I-20 all day today” and “They [de police] are HEAVILY enforcing the “get over” law today. Even for HERO Units.”

Pour a bigger cup of coffee, get your playlist ready and drive a little more cautiously today if you want to avoid the po-po. Happy hump day.
